butterfly life cycle

While at Toys R Us we bought this great little kit. So we sent away for our 5 caterpillars and watched them eat and grow and eventually become cocoons. Then we carefully placed them in the butterfly house. And 7 days later we had butterflies! We fed and watched our butterflies for 1 week and then we let them go, well most of them. We had one special little guy Nemo who emerged out of the cocoon with a broken wing. Well he couldn't fly away when we let the others go. So we kept him in the house for a few more days and then without little eyes watching we left him in the backyard to see if the little guy could fly on his own. Not sure he made it....The best part of the whole experience was before they flew away the kids we able to each hold a butterfly. Awesome! Maybe our painted lady butterflies are flying by your window right now...
